Food Crack...

Any addicting food that causes cravings or inability to stop eating and requires drastic measures (ie keeping food out of home) to avoid eating. For me, this semester, it has been Goods Potato chips.

I've never liked potato chips. I grew up in pretzel land where you can buy one of about 20 different varieties of pretzels in the snack food aisle as opposed to just the stinky Rold Gold I could only find in Texas while living there...well I did find Tom Sturgis Pretzels at the commissary, but they're not my favorite.

Potato chips were never something I wanted to eat... UNTIL I encountered Goods Potato chips in the BLUE bag. Goods has two recipes, the BLUE bag and the RED bag. Both are cooked in lard, but the blue bag chips are curly and a little thicker and crispier than the red bag. Ugh. I can't stop. Add an extra stressful semester, I think I'm up three pounds.

(PS just FYI: imho, some good pretzels are Unique Splits regular, dark, oat bran, wheat, cheese, or Utz specials regular or extra dark, or Utz's honey wheat twists, mmmmmmmmmm)

Funny you should mention this because I was considering starting a food blog in adition to the adoption blog.

Anyway - being a tater-chip-aholic, I'll agree with your evaluation of Goods. These are actually 2 formerly separate companies that merged about a year ago and decided to continue with both recipes.

Good's makes my top 5, but will have to take a back seat to Dieffenbach's. Try them next time you see them - you won't be sorry. Well, OK you might be sorry, but you'll still thank me!

How TRUE!!! You're sure right about preztels in Texas, Rold Gold is it... so depressing!! And there are NO good chips either! I'm missing the PA Dutch lard chips and fresh preztels. I'll help you finish off a bag when we're up to visit!!!

It's funny, my girlfriend and I just had this conversation on the way home from Deleware on Saturday. (Now I'm going to make you jealous) We stopped at Earl's Sub Shop on the way through Avondale and she bought a bag of chips since she's a chip-aholic and offered me some. I told her I don't really like chips but the only kind that would have tempted me would be the lard chips.

Have you been to the Herr's factory since you were a kid? They bring out fresh hot chips right off the line that are to DIE for. I didn't remember that when we went a few years back.

I also think it's funny that your post about potato chips generated so many replies. LOL!

BTW thanks for taking E yesterday. She had fun. And I burned those two other PR's for you. I believe they were episodes that I didn't give you the first time around. Now you're only missing the first five.

BTW someone sent me one of those stupid email jokes once and now every time I see the word "crack" I think of this. I found it on someone's blog and I figured I'd poison your brain too, cuz that's the kind of nice person that I am.

Hmmm .... just trying to tie everything together. Did you get hooked on "Blue Goods" after your husband introduced you to them a couple of months ago? If so, it was the result of an un-named coworker mentioning them to him. AND, your husband's un-named coworker just so happened to be introduced to "Blue Goods" by gds who posted above!

Everyone together now: "It's a small world after all... "!

Hmmm. I thought I had put this response in last night, but I guess it didn't take. Blogger seems to behave strangely from time to time.

I was thinking perhaps it's about time that the un-named coworker really needs to get with the times and enter the blogosphere. Perhaps some current and former un-named coworers could start a blog on the un-named coworker's behalf?
